I've removed the entries for upper eyelid and lower eyelid. I don't think we are ever likely to have articles on these; Add them when we do. As the person who added these is currently arguing to delete the page, I suspect he's not about to create them. Some of his other additions are helpful however. Andrewa 23:46, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Pastern

The pastern of a horse is the joint that is homologous with the human ankle. If we use human analogies, a horse, being digitigrade, is like a human walking on tiptoe with the sole of the foot almost vertical and the ankle permanently off the ground, and the whole foot made longer and slimmer so that it more or less in line with the rest of the leg.

Johnson's distionary defines "pastern" as the "the knee of a horse," and when queried as to why he defined it that way he is said to have replied "ignorance, madam, sheer ignorance."

The location of the pastern is such that it does look a little like a knee, except that it bends backwards, and there is of course a real knee higher on the horse's leg. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 14:54, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
