Previously, this article redirected to body modification. I felt it should discuss disfigurement caused by medical conditions. - Montréalais 16:54, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Stay[edit]

I think it should stay where it is, because the definition is different, I think it could be moved only if it were still very much a main heading. If one was looking fofr medical disfigurment one would type medical disfigurment, not mutilation.

Stay[edit]

Disfigurement commonly refers to a congenital or birth defect, whereas mutilation (as distinguished from mutation) refers to the result of a violent action.

Why is there even a discussion about this? Disfigurement is a birth defect or through an event (fire, rockslide, etc.), and Mutilation is disfiguring through violent actions (ripping, well is practically the only example I can think of). --Yancyfry jr 02:29, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hansen's Disease / Leprosy?[edit]

Should they add Leprosy as a cause of disfigurement? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.78.69.162 (talk) 23:03, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
