I removed a comment about about Americans filling sandbags with priceless relics, because:

  • it was inaccurate; the version given was the grossly distorted blogger version. In reality it was Poles, not Americans, they did it under supervision of museum staff, and it was an area already severely damaged by Saddam building tourist carparks and statues to himself;
  • the tone was POV;
  • they weren't sandbags but Hesco Concertainers (which are more like gabions), so no sandbags were involved anyway; and
  • it isn't appropriate for this article, which is about the technical merits of burlap bags, not political issues related to the occupation of Iraq.

Nothing about theatrical use?[edit]

It's pretty clear that the article is focused on the use of sandbags in temporary structures, particularly battlefield fortifications and flood control. I'm kind of surprised, though, to find no mention whatsoever of their use in theatre, where they're commonly used to weigh down set pieces to prevent shifting (especially if it's a temporary set) and have been historically used as counterweights for rigging of lights and fly systems. A brief mention in the uses section would seem to be a good addition, if proper sourcing is handy. (My knowledge is based on personal experience, which isn't a reliable source to add it to the article.) oknazevad (talk) 18:03, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Sandbags are also used for disposable ballast in gas balloons, and as counterweights for theatre sets." It's already in there, but could use a citation. --Dual Freq (talk) 20:59, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
