Cambridge England VS Cambridge MA: How Similar?[edit]

I think these two cities are the most similar the namesake cities could go. Both Cambridge UK and Cambridge MA have world class universities (Harvard, MIT, Cambridge), both have sorta similar populations (Cambridge MA has 119000 people in 2019 and Cambridge UK has 125k in 2011), both Cambridges have famous alumni, and both Cambridges are biotech hubs (with AstraZeneca in the UK and Moderna/Biogen in MA). Both Cambridges created major vaccines for COVID (Astra vaccine and Moderna vaccine), and Cambridge has a Pfizer lab.

Delete 'coat of arms' from the infobox[edit]

The coat of arms currently given without qualification in the infobox is not that of the city but rather that of Cambridge City Council. So (a) it is a false assertion and (b) seems to be just decoration anyway. It doesn't seen possible to annotate the link but does it even belong here? Is there any convincing reason to retain it? Of course Cambridge (England) is the primary topic; Cambridge (Mass.) is very much an "also ran", de facto a suburb of Boston (Mass., not Lincs. - you got that one). An obvious WP:SNOW given zero evidence to support the proposal. --𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 17:07, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Either Cambridge, Cambridgeshire due to Cambridge, Gloucestershire, Cambridge, West Yorkshire and Cambridge (ward) also in England or just Cambridge, England but the city in England may be primary due to its university and the fact the Massachusetts one is named after it and while it also has world famous universities they aren't normally called "Cambridge". Oppose This has been proposed repeatedly and there's a consensus not to move. I'm not aware that anything significant has changed in the status of the subject since previous discussions. If you're contending that previous discussions were flawed you'll have to come up with some actual arguments as to why Cambridge, England is not the primary topic. ----Pontificalibus 20:33, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Weak support. It's complicated. The relevant question is whether the English city is a primary topic for the term "Cambridge". Pageviews show the University as a clear leader, with the English and Massachusetts cities neck and neck in second. Incoming link counts tell a similar story. However, the English city is usually known simply as "Cambridge" rather than "Cambridge, England" etc., whereas it is common to refer to "Cambridge, Massachusetts" and the "University of Cambridge" or variants in full. Neutral search results seem equally split between the English city and the university, with not much for Cambridge, MA or other topics. Although Cambridge, MA is less than 400 years old, that still counts as long-term significance when compared to Wikipedia's lifespan or 10Y. Considering only the cities, Cambridge, England is a primary topic by usage, but the University just sways it: "Smith went to Cambridge" usually indicates a University education rather than a city break. - No, it is really not complicated. If someone says that they "went to Cambridge", it will be clear from context whether they are talking at about the city, the University (or the railway station). The Cambridge Five were "at" Cambridge (clearly meaning the University) rather than "in" Cambridge (for a day's sightseeing). The city contains the University, the railway station, the botanical gardens and so on. Population density[edit]
