Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lowang

  • I don't know what to say. Read the article; you'll understand why it's here. Isomorphic 00:56, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Eek. Kill it, kill it now. RickK 01:20, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Agree. VfD notice has now been removed twice. Only editor (apart from adding the notices) is User:Lowang, whose only contributions are this article. The article seems to describe itself as a prank, but takes a long time to do so. I've sent a message to the user. Andrewa 01:38, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Delete now. And purge whatever has to be purged to keep it from being undeleted. -- Cyrius|&#9998 01:39, Apr 13, 2004 (UTC)
  • Yes I am Lowang. Sorry about my previous edits, but I didn't know what vfd was, thought it was a banner ad thing, so I took it out everytime I see it. Why it is there? This is not a prank. I didn't spend half an hour elaborating on some BS. Instead, it's a phenomenon at my high school and a large number of my friends have asked me to summarize the exploits and post it here. The first part was about the video game itself. The rest is about how some people have taken it seriously and adapted gaming behavior to real life. This thing, although absurd, means a lot to us, so please don't delete it. Again thanks Andrewa for notifying me.
    • Comment: I'm afraid your friends may be having a joke at your expense. Have a good read around, maybe starting with what Wikipedia is (and what Wikipedia is not) and come back on my user page or here if you still think it belongs, saying why. At the very least it needs some work. But I don't want you to waste time on it. Andrewa 02:00, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)

  • I don't understand the rush. We don't have an article on the game Shadow Warrior (as far as I can tell), so why don't we just move the "classical Lowang" stuff into a new article about that game? There's quite a nice bit of info on it in this article. Everyking 17:51, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
    • Comment: There's no rush, I think RickK and "this is" Cyrius are just being a bit flipant above (and maybe not all that helpfully when new users are involved - although I did think RickK put it very succinctly and we shouldn't take ourselves too cyriusly). My suggestion is that you move the article yourself, say to Shadow Warrior (game) or better just Shadow Warrior, and then stubify it. That would boldly put your opinion into practice, preserving the history etc.. Once the dust clears we could then delete the useless redirect this would create, and maybe replace it with one from Lo Wang. Andrewa 21:12, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)
      • I agree with keeping the part that resembles actual content as its own article. Even if we're not going to bite the newbies, there comes a point where they need to be growled at, or at least made fun of. In this case, it came with the posting of a subject that some high school kids are going to be embarrassed to be associated with in a few years. If it included the real names of the participants, I'd push deleting for their own protection. -- Cyrius|&#9998 00:25, Apr 14, 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete quickly but with faint praise. It's actually well-written and the responsible party or parties should be encouraged to write some useful articles instead of this nonsense. I agree with Cyrius on this one...this reminds me of truly nerdish stuff I did in high school that I'd just as soon forget. - Lucky 6.9 19:40, 15 Apr 2004 (UTC)
    • I'd suggest that referring to a person's interests as nonsense is probably not the best way to encourage them to write other articles. Everyking 02:23, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)
      • No offense intended. I simply didn't wish to place a de facto deletion vote. Too much potential here. - Lucky 6.9 18:46, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Although it reminds me of the sort of nerdish things I wish I'd done in high school. Dukeofomnium 16:27, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Everyone has strange in-jokes at school (this one is quite entertaining), but I doubt anyone outside of that school could possibly care. Pteron 04:52, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. WTF are you talking about? BL 07:56, Apr 19, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. I cleaned up the article a bit, which explains BL's reaction. --Tbjablin 19:59, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Wondered about that myself until I read your rewrite. I withdraw my objection as we now have an excellent short article! Keep. - Lucky 6.9 21:20, 19 Apr 2004 (UTC)
