Maybe something should be added in regard to the *type* of humour commonly found in Quebec.

One such thing I have noted (especialy in montreal) were "bilingual puns" whose humour depended on at least a small level of knowledge of english such as the olds "the black nun is coming - la noirceur s'en vient" and "If drink, cup you - Ciboire, tasse-toi". another example is the "mental toughness" speech in the movie Les Boys.

There has also seem to have been a prevalence of sketch based humour as opposed to observational humours within the ranks of the stand-up comedians.

Finaly, although humour can be use for political purposes in many if not most countries, the engagement of some humourist in quebec seem to me to be much greater (when compare to, for example, australia where I reside.) This can be seen with such matters such as the founding of the Parti Rhinoceros, or the implication of Elvis gratton during the 1995 referendum.
